Peter asked: I went to Tahiti six months ago and ever since then I have had what I think is acid reflux. Before traveling, it never happened.
It’s a tingling unpleasant feeling in my chest, and it mainly happens when I’m lying down to sleep-when I sit up it isn’t so bad. Weirdly, it’s mainly when I’m about to go to sleep that it happens. Which is annoying. Every now and then it will get VERY bad, along with a sore stomach. I never seem to vomit, though there’s been some near misses.
When I went to the doctor he said I had irritable bowel syndrome.
So does it sound like acid reflux is my problem? If so what could help alleviate it? And is there a link between IBS symptoms and heartburn/acid reflux?
Thanks so much for any ideas-it’s much appreciated.

Malloots loves you asked: I think my 8 week old son has acid reflux and Im taking him to the doctor on thursday but I was wondering if you could tell me the symptoms that your babies showed. My wee man cries harder when he burps, he sucks his bottle for a few seconds and then starts to scream, he will only sleep upright on me and as soon as I put him down flat he cries! He’s very colicy too and we’ve tried everything we can think of to relieve that too. Thanks.
He spits up a lot too!

Wackjob asked: I have problems with acid reflux when I sleep. I have been planning on buying a bed wedge or a good recliner chair.
Anyhow, any acid reflux sufferers able to recommend a bed wedge that you have used and like? If you have both a bed wedge and a recliner, do you find the recliner to be more comfortable for sleep?

Josephina:Baby boy due 1/1/10! asked: My daughter is 9 weeks old. She rarely ever spits up. But I still feel like she may have acid reflux. She is constantly swallowing. Like I can actually hear her food coming back up, and then she keeps swallowing. She will even wake from her sleep and start doing it back to back. And sometimes she will gag or even choke from it…
I am going to mention it to her doctor today and see what she says. But I am just curious if your little one had acid reflux what were their symptoms? It its not acid reflux could this possibly be a reaction to her formula, she is on Enfamil Gentlease… she’s a VERY gassy baby? Is it possible to be diagnosed with acid reflux without experiencing actual spitting up? Thanks
