West asked: I have read that antacids have a real negative effect on the body such as hindering the body from absorbing the proper nutrients and making the body produce even more acid to restore the balance of the pH level. Is all of this information true? and if it is, should i stop taking antacids and try natural remedies for acid reflux (GERD)?
Here are the websites that i got the information from:

SWEET CHICKEN MEAT asked: recurrent back pain/pinched nerve on the left side. recently no pain but i developed numbness in back.
an annoying sore/tender spot on my head on the left. sometimes it feels hot or swollen. (noticed 2 yrs ago. the dermatologist said it was”irritated” & not to worry bout it.)
then last november i had BAD skin problems. dry spots (eczema?) that when scratched turned into sores that wouldn’t heal. i never had skin problems before. the derm said it DIDN’T look like shingles but the wounds wouldn’t completely heal til i tried taking valtrex.
sometimes my thinking is fuzzy & i feel fatigued or “off”.
last year i was diagnosed with GERD. & i was having bad sharp pain in guts on my left side. i would get also get a “fluttering” feeling on the left. upper endoscopy showed inflammation but no clear reason why.
about 2 yrs ago i had a problem with muscle control over my right eye, it was drooping a bit.
had a few “panic attacks” last yr
i often catch sinus/throat infections
i have tried eating healthy things & drinking lots of water & green tea. i am working out a few times a week now. my overall energy strength & health isimproved but there is SOMETHING going on that i don’t think diet is gonna fix.

truth is… asked: My daughter’s pediatrician thinks that my daughter has acid reflux, which I think she’s right on. She prescribed her infant Zantac. We started giving it to her yesterday, but I haven’t seen any significant change. How long does it take to fully take effect? And, eventually does it take care of the spit up all together or does it just make the spit up less acidic?

Melissa S asked: My daughter is 4 weeks old and has acid reflux and I feel like I am starving. Can anyone give me ideas on what I can eat, I am currently avoiding dairy and citrus foods. So I am eating potatoes, bread, pasta and pears. So if anyone has been thought on this and can give me an idea of a diet that would be great. Seriouse answers only please, thanks.

Dani B asked: I am currently taking an acid reflux medication for the next 6 weeks. However, I am curious if there are any beneficial foods that will also help? My throat is closing up a lot lately, and although I have eliminated my caffeine intake, it is still bothering me.

Crystal C asked: My little girl is 5 weeks old and is gassy. She is a pretty good baby otherwise but sometimes when she spits up it comes out of her nose. Sometimes she regurgatates the bottle but very unfreqently. She also sometimes sounds like she is gurgling? She is such a good trooper though, she rarely cries at all and easts about every 3 hours. I have tried the mylicon drops and they seem to work only for a short period of time. My baby’’s doctor has put her on medicaine for acid reflux and told me to switch the formula to Nutramingin. When I did this after 2 days she seemed worse than ever. I put her back on Good start but have keep her on meds. I dont know what to do with her now. Is there a better formula anyone has tried with a baby with these symptoms. Can you really go by what the formula says it is for on the label. Why wouldnt Soy be recommended for gas/fussiness by doctors instead of putting them on meds and saying its acid reflux. Help!!
